  Dara Thompson, ND

Dr. Dara Thompson integrates her knowledge of traditional healing systems with an up-to-date understanding of science and research. As an undergraduate, Dr. Thompson studied molecular biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California at Santa Cruz. In 2002 she received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine. Her approach demonstrates her respect for both the scientific process and the innate wisdom of the human body.

Dr. Thompson knows the power of finding the right diagnosis. All too often in today's medical system, health practitioners address symptoms rather than the underlying disease. The tenets of naturopathic medicine challenge us to treat each patient as a unique individual, emphasizing prevention as well as the root causes of illness.

In 2007 Dr. Thompson completed a one-year, post-graduate training in environmental medicine. She educates all of her patients on the avoidance of environmental toxins and uses various protocols to eliminate harmful chemicals and heavy metals from the body. Many modern diseases, such as cancer, autoimmunity and heart disease, have environmental causes. By removing harmful substances from the body, we pave the way to recovery.

Dr. Thompson is an expert in clinical nutrition. She uses individualized diet and supplement protocols to treat a variety of conditions, all with the aim to achieve optimal health. An experienced educator, Dr. Thompson informs all of her patients about the risks and benefits of treatments. She has often been told that she has the ability to explain complex concepts in a way that is concise and easy to understand.

Dr. Thompson is an active member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, The California Association of Naturopathic Doctors, The Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Naturopathic Association of Environmental Medicine. She is a mother of twins and a gourmet cook.
